Artist's Description

Painted in the morning hours on a beach in the middle of the Colorado River. We put in at the Moab Boat dock and only made it to the horseshoe bend by Poison Spider trailhead because the flow is so low this year. Jet boats taking their daily passengers to Canyonlands sent ripples to our beach as I was working on this little painting. Painted plein air May 8, 2012.

About Page Holland

Page Holland

Fifth generation native of Moab, Utah, Page was raised on the cowboy and mining lore of the area. Living in southeastern Utah provides her a wealth subject matter: the landscape, inhabitants, flora, fauna, weather patterns and historical events of the Colorado Plateau. She is proficient in watercolors, acrylic, pastel, pen and ink and graphite, and she loves to experiment with other media. Page enjoys working en plein air (on site), but much of her subject matter is very remote, so she's often horseback, jeeping, hiking or boating with a camera in hand for reference shots. ...
